    June 11th, 2012

The USHLI has signed on to Expo Americas, and below is a statement from their President Dr. Juan Andrade, Jr.

The U.S. Hispanic Leadership Institute’s (USHLI) 2012 Student Leadership Series will be heading to Kansas City, Missouri on September 14-15.

The United States Hispanic Leadership Institute is a Chicago-based national nonprofit, nonpartisan, tax-exempt organization that promotes education, civic participation, and leadership development for Latinos and other similarly disenfranchised groups. The mission of the United States Hispanic Leadership Institute (USHLI) is to fulfill the promises and principles of democracy by empowering minorities and similarly disenfranchised groups and by maximizing civic awareness and participation in the electoral process (click here for more info)

This year’s Student Leadership summit will be held in conjunction with Expo Americas at the historic Union Station. College students will hear two nationally prominent motivational speakers and one speaker representing government, corporate America, or academia. They will attend workshops on professional development, graduate school opportunities, leadership development, financial literacy, coalition building on their campus, and civic participation. Community college students will also receive assistance in transitioning into 4-year degree programs. Team building and networking exercises will also be offered. This will serve to ensure that college students acquire the leadership skills needed to lead their respective organizations, have a better grasp of the opportunities for careers and internships available to them, and become more engaged in promoting civic participation.

USHLI is proud to partner with Expo Americas in bringing the Student Leadership Summit back to Kansas City and expanding the educational aspect of the Expo Americas and its goals of inspiring our youth.

USHLI looks forward to participating in Expo America and is excited about the partnership and the impact it will have on the Latino community.

    January 31st, 2012

Expo Americas is a unique, grassroots two-day event that offers an opportunity to reach the Latino consumer or entrepreneur as well as the general public. The one-of-a-kind event gives individuals, businesses, organizations and corporations a direct connection to the fastest growing market segment in the country!

Families, entrepreneurs, business executives, industry professionals, community leaders, educators and service organizations – coming together to sample products, access services, enjoy top entertainment and celebrate the vibrant and growing Hispanic culture.

Expo Americas builds on the past success sixteen years ago a group of local Kansas City business owners organized a one-time event called the Hispanic Economic Awareness Expo. That event was attended by nearly 27,000 people at the Kansas City Market Center. Its success has not been duplicated since, until now, as Expo Americas reunites several of the original organizers in the same spirit to bring a new bigger event to fruition! From Omaha to Oklahoma City and Denver to St. Louis, Expo Americas will reach a regional audience creating a unique and unprecedented experiential Hispanic event for years to come!

    • Present the best of the best in Latin national, regional and local entertainment.
